What is the Earthview approach to sustainability consulting?
"Sustainability" is a buzzword without a solid definition, even in law. Many sustainability consulting firms focus on energy efficiency, recycling, third-party certifications, and "green" investments.
Earthview's focus is on your organisation's work: what impact are your projects having on the communities and ecosystems where they take place? By examining the relationships between people, and between people and the environment upon which they depend, we can set up projects to combine sustainability and equity practices. This is eco-centric equity: asking ourselves the right questions to respect what the ecosystem offers the people, and how to build lasting, reciprocal relationships between all communities.
Mission
To help organisations engage in innovative thinking on what sustainability means in their work and in their communities; and in so doing, to help create projects that unite human activity with habitat for the long-term well-being of people and planet.

Growing up in small towns along the California coast where the redwoods meet the crashing waves, I became deeply connected to the sea. I saw how my communities depend on the health of our environment for food and culture. In pre-school I held my first art show to benefit the Ocean. My journey through higher education was in pursuit of the best approach for humans to live in harmony with Nature.
In undergrad, it was Art Activism and science communication. My MA in Environmental Arts & Humanities examined worldviews and environmental decision-making. In law school, I published twice, first on how law can better serve people through an ecocentric perspective, and second on how law can support site-specific, locally-led solutions like restorative ocean farming.

My LL.M. thesis led me to this new take on sustainability consulting. The paper incorporated everything I learned both on the job and in school. I realised that in order for us to truly live "sustainably" we must unite human activity with habitat--and to that, we need to take a breath and ask ourselves the right questions to start thinking differently.
